| Sadly, our grand
human capacities have been misused for centuries to destroy, steal,
murder, and make war. Indeed, the
knowledge to build nuclear and biological weapons, and to commit acts
of terror, will always remain with us.
Nevertheless, it is possible to create a new world in which we deal with one another as human beings, bridging division, isolation, ignorance, hate, fear, and greed, with a commitment to enrich one another's world. We have the potential to create for ourselves that kind of world, a world that outshines the stars, build on a platform of reason, discovery, and a growing scientific understanding of verifiable truth. |
